Local brewery acquires natural energy company in prep for growth

On Behalf of | Dec 10, 2013 | Business Formation & Planning |

It is not uncommon for one business in Fort Lauderdale, or some other U.S. city, to purchase or take over another, particularly when the business that made the acquisition is growing. While in some situations this may be in order to eliminate a competing business, in others it may be in order to expand or enhance their operations.

In preparation for future expansion, a local brewery in North Carolina reportedly has plans to obtain a natural energy company. The terms of the deal between Appalachian Mountain Brewery and North Carolina Natural Energy Inc. were not disclosed, but it is expected that it will be finalized by the end of 2013. Often times in a business acquisition such as this, one company will buyout the other.

According to reports, once the deal is complete, the two businesses will combine to form a new business under the name Appalachian Mountain Brewery Inc. Shares in the craft brewery will reportedly be publically traded. The acquisition of North Carolina Natural Energy will purportedly allow the brewery, which already puts any emphasis on sustainability, to further pursue ways to use clean energy for the making and distributing of beer. It was also reported that the new company will have a wholesale beer, liquor and wine license that the brewery did not previously have on its own.

Anyone who is considering a starting up their own business, or acquiring another company in order to grow their business, may find it of benefit to obtain legal representation. An attorney can assist in obtaining any business licensing that may be required, as well as ensuring that all other regulatory compliances are met.
