Woman sues former employer over gender discrimination

On Behalf of | May 14, 2014 | Employment Litigation |

From sexual harassment to violations of civil rights, employees sometimes face numerous issues in the workplace. Furthermore, business owners in Fort Lauderdale and the rest of Florida could also be impacted by the consequences of poor decisions made by staff members and employment litigation. Whether an employee is afraid to come forward because of retaliation or an employer wants to protect their company from false allegations, people in this position should ensure they approach the legal process properly and conduct thorough planning.

Although she used to strongly support the company as a communications chief before her 2008 resignation, a former Anheuser-Busch executive recently filed suit against the brewery due to alleged gender discrimination. The company claims that the woman received fair compensation and treatment and that the woman’s claims are not true.

However, the former executive believes that she did not receive the compensation she deserved and is pursuing punitive damages and back pay in her civil lawsuit. According to the woman, she was one of two women on the company’s strategy committee and they were paid less than the rest of the committee, a team that usually consisted of 15 to 20 employees.

For someone who doesn’t have a comprehensive background in employment law, filing a lawsuit could seem difficult. After all, there are a number of employment-related cases that appear in court, from wrongful discharge to FMLA violations. Furthermore, these cases may present a number of unique details that could have a significant impact on the outcome. It may be smart for anyone who is going through this to reach out to a legal professional.
