Two Florida public television stations could merge

On Behalf of | Jun 26, 2014 | Business Formation & Planning |

When a business has decided that merging is an excellent way to grow, there are many things to take into consideration, from reviewing business goals to preparing for any potential hurdles. In Fort Lauderdale, Florida, companies who are in this position should also make thorough planning a top priority. With comprehensive preparation, mergers can move forward very smoothly.

Two Florida-based public television stations have been looking into the benefits of merging into one station, which would give those who watch the new channel access to more programming. Although the pair have talked about merging in the past, it never came to fruition. However, they see numerous perks that would come with merging and are taking another shot at joining forces.

The two stations have not come to an agreement with regard to when the merger would take place. Furthermore, a number of groups would need to approve the merger, such as the Florida Department of Education and the Federal Communications Commission. South Florida would become the seventh biggest television market in the country if the new station, which could be named South Florida PBS, becomes a reality.

From a large-scale publicly traded merger to a small business merger, acquiring a business can present a variety of challenges. However, approaching the process properly can help minimize problems and maximize the potential of mergers and acquisitions. All sorts of legal issues can arise when it comes to mergers, which highlights the importance of understanding business law. Anyone who needs assistance with the legal aspects of merging may want to talk with an attorney.
